“Dear community members — This holiday season, please consider extending your support to a community member in dire need. We are crowdfunding on behalf of a Black trans woman facing housing and financial insecurity. She is a trauma and abuse survivor, and has been working to heal while navigating tense interpersonal and structural dynamics. Due to her former roommates’ breaking of her lease, she is without the means to pay the full rent and has been given notice that she’ll have 20 days to vacate the premises and find new housing. On top of that, she has recently lost her job due to what she experienced as discrimination, and is without the means to facilitate a move on her own. This has caused a whirlwind of distress and logistical challenges for her, and she is humbly requesting your support to help her secure funds needed to find a safe and accommodating space to live with her service dog, while also continuing her mental health treatment.

Her exigent needs are as follows: safe, long-term housing in Providence, Rhode Island and the means to pay rent and a security deposit for at least two months; assistance with moving expenses and logistics; support with ongoing and intensive medical care and assessment; and help with basic living and medical expenses. Conservatively, raising $5,000 will help meet these needs while ensuring she has enough of a safety net should any of her short-term plans for new housing or safe shelter fall through.

Your support during this time will help ensure that she and her companion animal do not become homeless this winter, and that she is able to pursue her long-term goal of continuing her education and becoming a community advocate and support person in the mental health sector.
